There's only one Wright choice - Pillow Fort
Later that day, when he finally returned to the office, he opened the door and hadn't quite expected to be greeted by a wall of pillows...]
What.
no subject
A single pillow sails through the air from a gap in the we all towards Phoenix's face. Dodge or get hit, daddy dearest! ]
Avast! [ The voice is a little muffled from inside the fort. ] Speak your business or prepare for war!
[ She heard his voice so he isn't a client. She probably would not be doing this to a client.
Maybe. ]

Daddy dearest never learned how to dodge. so he takes it as if its a loose toupee or a cup of steaming hot coffee.]

At least the carpet looks clean...
He looks up towards the fort as he tries to work out what Trucy is going for. Pirates? Barbarians? Bikers?]
Um... This is Phoenix Wright. Or, um... Sir Bluecoat?
My business.... is.... the law? [He prods inquisitively.]

[ That frantic, whispered warning is all he gets before fifth-year Victoire dives under the table that seventh-year Teddy had been studying at in the library. She'd run in rather frantically and presumably has reason to do so.
The reason becomes clearer when an irritated Professor McGonnagall peers into the library scant minutes later...
What do you do, Lupin? ]
no subject
When the coast clears and the Professor takes her hunt elsewhere (which is good because plan b was meta'ing into Victoire and playing the old bait-and-switch to allow Victoire a clean getaway), Teddy peers under the table curiously. ]
I hope you haven't set anything on fire today.

soulmate fuckup | blood purist shithole au
While the last battle at Hogwarts was coming to an end, Andromeda Tonks had taken her baby grandson and gone to surrender. Surrender and beg forgiveness from Bellatrix Black, her sister, a fearsome and wild woman. Andromeda renounced her muggle husband, Edward Tonks, and told Bellatrix she had been tricked by the awful muggle man.
Seeing her sister on her knees was apparently enough for Bellatrix to allow Andromeda and baby Edward Lupin to live. His name was changed, to throw off those of a muggle and a werewolf, and he became Theodore Black. Heir to the Black Family, only because so many others were dead, except for his second cousin Draco Malfoy who was heir to that family.
The name appeared on his wrist when he was five, the name Victoire Weasley. A pretty name, he thought. He ran to his great aunt Bellatrix, who he spent more of his time with, as if being near Andromeda Black might corrupt his already tainted blood. Bellatrix had taken one look at the name and backhanded him across the face, like it was his fault.
"That is the name of a filthy blood traitor, Theodore. You are never to cavort with such people, do you understand?" she had said, and Teddy had nodded. Yes, he understood. The name was kept hidden by sleeves or bands.
One day, his grandmother showed him her wrist-- all that was there was a mangled scar. "It had once said Edward Tonks", she told him, "but they burned away his name because they didn't think a muggleborn was worthy of me. Don't tell anyone I said this, promise it, but he was worthy, my dear. He was a wonderful man, and you were named Edward after him." It was the only time she spoke of such dangerous truths, but it made all the difference for him.
It's impossible to seek out the girl when he's young, though, cooped up in Grimmauld Place. But he does hear about the Weasleys. Purebloods sentenced to three generations of being in the lower class with the wandless mudbloods and other traitors, for their crimes during the war. They were a large family, but the name tossed around the most is Ronald Weasley, who was executed for being a close ally of Harry Potter. And Percival Weasley, who was pardoned for allying with Lord Voldemort's forces. But where does the girl called Victoire fit in?
At age eleven, he begins schooling at the Salzaar Slytherin Academy, which was built over the ruins of Hogwarts. Only those in the higher class can attend there-- purebloods and those rich enough to be among them. Teddy knows the only reason he's allowed in is because so many years ago, his grandmother groveled to her sister, and somehow he's managed to keep her begrudging favor. He's an outsider, though. Theodore Black, the halfblood. Theodore Black, didn't you hear that his father was a werewolf? And on his better days, Theodore Black, that's the great nephew of Bellatix Black, Lord Voldemort's right-hand and head of the Law Enforcement.
In another life, he might have gone to the other school, visible from the Slytherin Academy; the Godric Gryffindor School For Lesser Children. That was where the bloodtraitors, halfbloods, poor people, and others went. That's where Victoire Weasley would be. Only the most basic of magic was taught there, everything else was just how to better serve those who were more worthy of being wizards.
From the towers, he catches himself looking over at the other school, wondering if Victoire Weasley is there now, and what she's like. What she's doing. A few times, he muses about the idea of metamorphing into someone else and sneaking over, just to catch a glimpse of her.
Curiosity has always been Teddy's greatest weakness, but he holds off until the beginning of his seventh year. It's incredibly risky, Bellatrix's own Auror guard patrols around both schools (Teddy is meant to graduate and enter their ranks, someday very soon) and they have spells that can easily see through his metamorphing if he runs into them. And if he's caught sneaking over there, there's no excuse in the world that could save him. His favor with his great aunt is a fragile thing, a ticking time bomb waiting for him to do something that would have him cast out.
But at age 17 and full of teenage moxy, Teddy feels like it's time to take the risk. Just to see her, at least once. If she's even there-- she could be older than him, or she could have just quit school like so many Gryffindor students seem to do, according to rumor.
Avoiding the guards is the hard part, but after years of watching them and even talking to them (as just a curious future Auror trainee, of course) he knows their patrol route better than they do. Slipping past them is so stupidly easy, he's annoyed at himself for not having done this years ago.
Where the Slytherin Academy is a towering castle, a fortress of magical making, the Gryffindor School is a ruddy, beat up set of buildings blocked off by a simple fence. He knows a way in the fence, though, because he recalls his classmates talking about it. For much less innocent reasons than his, however, as apparently it had become a rite of passage after OWLs and NEWTs exams to go there, sneak in, grab a couple of students, and--
Well, he didn't want to think about what they did next, though he could easily imagine it wasn't pleasant. He hadn't participated, and his great aunt had somehow heard about it and scolded him for being so soft-hearted. Only his excuse that he had been busy acting like an adult instead of a childish prankster had soothed her.
Slipping into the school is easy. There's far less guards here (who cares if a few bloodtraitors or what-have-you get murdered by the centaurs nearby? means less work) and he puts on his disguise just before entering the building. The basic uniform is similar enough-- white shirt, black pants, black robes. But the Slytherins' clothes are nicer, cleaner, and have a snake emblem on both the robes and the shirt collar, where as the Gryffindors' have a lion being strangled by a snake on theirs.
Lord Voldemort and his followers really aren't the subtle type.
But Teddy has managed to obtain the emblem, and sewed it onto an old set of his uniform that looks passably pathetic. Then the easy part, changing the rest of his appearance. Hilariously, he already does that on a daily basis, to combat how plain he looks-- makes his hair jet black and silky, his eyes silver, his cheekbones more aristocratic, his muscles more toned, etc improvements. Few people realize that Teddy is in fact a boy with messy brown hair, plain chocolate eyes, and stupidly lanky tall.
So, for once, it's his natural appearance that will be his disguise. He's plain enough, no one will even look twice at him.
Disguise on, he finds himself in the mess hall, trailing a few Gryffindors. It's nothing like the Great Hall, that's for certain. A lunch line and tables sitting beneath a flat, boring ceiling. But he isn't here to marvel at the differences, or... well, the similarities. It would appear that the lower class people look like actual people! Who would have thought. Teddy has to stop himself from the reflex of sniffing and sticking up his nose in front of the "rabble", because he isn't here to be an asshole, either.
He scans the tables, for some reason thinking that the moment he spots Victoire Weasley, his heart will know it. But all he sees is a sea of haggard students, none really sticking out from the rest.
Approaching the nearest table, he sees a pair of twins, probably in their fourth year. Blonde, covered in delicate freckles, and oddly... cute. Like, insanely cute. Veela. They must be part Veela. Teddy has spent enough time with his nose in a book to recognize such a thing. He decides to approach. He's just going to do this the stupid way, asking people if they've seen Victoire Weasley around. His plan may not have extended past getting in the door.
It turns out he's managed to approach Victoire's siblings. Who are quite miffed that Victoire "hasn't mentioned us to any of her friends! I'm Dominique, and this is Louis. Vic's over at the table in the back corner over there, see? She has to eat alone because she got into it with a teacher! She'll be lucky if she doesn't get expelled-- get us all expelled."
Teddy thanks them for their help, and then heads closer to the detention table, where a girl sits. And him be damned, she's gorgeous. Gorgeous copper red curls and freckle-speckled skin. She looks annoyed though, aggressively stabbing at her plate of whatever they call food here without actually eating it.
Now that he's caught his glimpse, he should leave. That's the safest thing to do. So, of course, he instead casually gets a plate of slop from the lunch line and then slides into the seat next to the gorgeous Victoire Weasley. ]
So, I hear you got into an argument with a teacher. Color me curious, what was it about?
[ Teddy acts like this is where he belongs, that he's not intruding on some other world just for her. But he is, because his curiosity has always been his weakness, and he wants to know more about this girl with the copper curls and who fights with her teachers. ]

So when her parents read the name on her wrist - and Vic can't read well at three - her mother cries and her father holds her mother and her family never brings up the name on Victoire's wrist ever again. Not until she asks about it, but - well, sometimes that's what happens. Especially after the war, during the war. Sometimes the person whose name was scrawled on your skin was just dead and gone, lost to a war that still felt like it was ongoing.
She wears charm bracelets on her right wrist, stacked and loud and jangly and colorful. Her parents buy them for her, sometimes, and she makes some of the others. Victoire rarely thinks about Theodore Lupin, although sometimes she wonders, when she catches sight of her wrist, just how he died.
Victoire focuses on her family. They're not in the best of standings - except Uncle Percy and Aunt Audrey, and little Lucy and Molly; they'd been pardoned, but Uncle Percy sent the twins to Beauxbatons. Fleur had considered it, for her three, but they had less money and less - well, it was harder to leave the country, if you weren't pardoned. Fred and Roxanne and Lucy and Molly and their parents; Dominique and Louis. The remnants of a once-larger family, with the holes gaping and hard to touch.
She focuses on her friends, occasionally bothers to do her schoolwork (they learn so much less than they should, and Lucy and Molly teach them sometimes, on the sly) and tries to keep her head down for the sake of her family - mostly. Sometimes it's hard being a Weasley (synonymous with traitor, for the upper classes) and a half-breed Veela and a girl named for victory when they'd lost the war.
Sometimes she just can't help herself. And now, scowling at her food, Victoire transfers her scowl to the boy who sat down at the table. He's maybe two years older than her. ]
None of your business, gangly. You know you're going to get detention for talking to me, right?
no subject
Just trying to have a friendly chat. Detention doesn't worry me any.
[ If he gets caught, he'll need to slip away before they manage to realize who he actually is. And if he doesn't, he doubts he'll end up with just detention, if his great aunt gets word of it. ]
You looked terribly lonesome, off in this corner, after all.

TRUCY ► the floor is lava
Oh no! [ Pearl is perched on the dresser, hanging onto the television set for dear life. ] How are we going to get out of here without burning ourselves?
no subject
Um. We could sail the bed away?
[ MAYBE... ]

Worth a try, though! [ Jumping from the dresser to the bed, barely sticking the landing. ] Now we need a paddle!
[ ONE THAT WON'T BURN UP OR TURN INSANELY HOT so basically all materials are useless but maybe there's a stick that would work laying around ]
